Honest question.

I would add a TV Tuner with support for Front Row. Otherwise, great system.

Color options. The 24" should have come available in black or silver anodized like the ACDs.

Also, I would like to see it like the G5 iMacs - have the back come off for user HDD and optical drive replacement.

^ Even more than those - FASTER SUPERDRIVE. Honestly, the iMac's optical drive is years behind even basic PC configurations. I don't understand why I can only burn CDs at 24x

It's because it's vertically mounted. It's really funny because when Steve Jobs introduced the G4 iMac he talked about a design like the G5 and said it was a really bad idea. The superdrive also has to be limited in speed.

It's a cryin' shame. I'm sure 'they' could figure out a way to do it. With all the technology we have it doesn't seem that tough to make a fast vertical optical drive.

I read because in most optical drives keep the disk in place magnetically.

some wishes:

- graphic cards and hd upgrade options for 24" also for 20"
- faster bus
- firewire 800 for 20"

that's it. :D

FW800 across the board

built in TV tuner that supports OTA HD and digital cable.

an upgrade path for the hard drive, laptop style.. but with normal drives

undermounted usb ports and headphone jacks (in addition to what's there... it's annoying as hell when I want to use headphones)

glossy screen option

wireless ergo keyboard, ergo mouse.

the ability to turn off just the screen

cheaper :)

easy and possible upgrades to:
1. hard drive
2. optical drive
3. graphics card

side mounted USB port and headphone port. (make two headphone ports, one for speakers on the back and one for real headphones on the side, USB port for thumb drives, really only need one on the side, but two would be sweet.)

turn monitor off.

make all wall mountable

decrease the size of the 'chin' on the 24"

pull out handle on the top to move it easier. ;)

Add an ExpressCard/PCMCIA slot, just like the MBP. Basically, give me some way of expanding the system, without a full-fledged PCI Express expansion system. I'd love to be able to add a second Firewire bus. This will, of course, NEVER happen, but it's what I'D like to see.

Other than that, I love everything about my iMac.

one other thing. allow other uses for the monitor. make it easier to connect to other devices so the monitor can be used with your game console, or whatever else. even if it only includes a DVI input, there are converters and adapters that will work well enough.

It's too hard to limit this to just one thing so...

TV Tuner - Would really turn this into a media center

Integrated memory card readers - I really thought the iMac would have this by now. I'm getting old and pulling out my card reader and plugging it in is getting to be too much for me.

Integrated Swivel base like the i360 or "bring back the arm!" - Give this generation of iMac more movement like the G4 iMac had. I want to be able to move the screen all around.

Better video card, bigger HD standard

In addition to all of the above, a standard wireless keyboard/mouse. :D

Or at least a LONGER cable for the keyboard. I'd complain about the cable length on the mouse, but I just realized last night that you can plug it into the keyboard.

No screen hum!

A couple more USB ports.

Easier access to the internals for upgrading.

anyone know why they took away the ability to remove the back panel totally?
