If your tired of paying $500 for the same 16gb that was included in the original iPad, then do the only thing you can do and vote with your wallet. If you don't, then they will continue to sell 16gb iPads for years to come.

Apple is going to sell the 16 GB iPad at $500 for YEARS to come. Every year people think they will cut the 16GB option away and start at 32GB, but it never happens. And why should they? People continue to buy the 16GB device (maybe not a lot of people on MacRumors but the majority of people I know do cause they don't have too much music).

It appears I will be voting with my wallet. $900 for the 132 gb.

And, please send me my Darwin award I guess.

Human nature OP. It won't happen. Apple offers it, we don't like it, we rant, than we buy. Simple

What is wrong with 16 GB? Of course they will continue selling the 16 GB for years to come because for plenty of people it is enough space.

Until other manufacturers make a dent in apples profits apple will continue doing what they deem makes them the most money.

Even with iPhones. There are still very few manufacturers on either the android or windows phone OS that offer base 32gb internal space. Htc one and nokia lumia 920 offer base 32gb. But they have to in order to sell their products.

Galaxy S4 has base 16gb. Yes I know it has microSD slot. But it's hard to run apps off microSD slot. So microSD slots are really for storage of music etc. And apple wants you to use the cloud for those anyways.

Samsung tablets are 16gb base model?

The windows tablets are base 32gb. But isn't only like 16gb available as free space?

I'm voting with my wallet, no new iPads for me until the price/offerings become reasonable again. If they do the same with the iPhone 6 (charging a premium for a 4.7 - 5 inch screen which should already exist but they fail to release) I will do the same, no new iPhone.

I'll keep my current devices in the meantime since they have served me well. When I NEED to upgrade, I will have no hesitation to abandon Apple. I thew a line in the sand and Apple crossed it yesterday.

16GB fine for me.

I wish they did an 8GB one!

I stream all my music, movies and TV Shows are in the cloud, plus Netflix, iPlayer etc.

I had an iPad 2 16GB and I didn't come close to filling it. As my needs changed, years later, I am now in the market for more storage. But some people's needs don't change and 16GB is enough for them. Hell, I have an 8GB Nexus 7 and I haven't filled that yet.

For me, each device has a purpose, and the storage needs are often not great. Some people need a lot, which is why there are options.

If you play graphic intensive games, or want to stock up on videos for a flight 16 gb way to little. Amazon is selling 64 gb sd cards for $34 today. Charging $100 for 16 more gb in 2013 is shamefull. What I don't understand is why they don't just cut it down to $50 per increase in storage. So $550 for 32 gb $600 for 64 gb etc.

I'm sure the take rate would be much more then twice as high netting them more profit.

I'm cheap so there is no way I will pay $600 for the 32 gb. I would probably grudgingly pay $550 though. I'm sure most people are the same.

There is nothing wrong with 16GB but 16GB for $499 is not okay. Apps and media are significantly larger since the release of the Ipad 1. The amount that they charge to upgrade to 32 GB is ridiculous. I am not buying another Ipad until 32GB is the entrly level. If that means I have to stick with my Ipad 3 for the next few years, then I will.

No way to vote with your wallet. If you want a 32 Gb ipad or higher, you'll get it with the ridiculous price hike, because you have no choice. That doesn't mean charging $100 for 16 Gb isn't ridiculous.
edit: I know that you have a choice not to buy, but all that does is inflate the 16 Gb and make Apple continue with 16 Gb.

Cut to Apple announcing record breaking sales for the iPad air......inevitably that's whats going to happen. I could see the headline now "Apple announces they sold a gazillion new iPads, most ever in first week... breaks records worldwide, CEO Cook is elated!"

this is a lost cause unfortunately.
