Assuming you wore the Ultra 3 and the S9 about the amount of time, which AW would you put cellular service on?

Ultra 3 has satellite service regardless if it has cellular service, correct? So at worst case situation I could use satellite service?

Satellite service for what exactly? Yes you’ll be able to hit the SOS button, but you won’t be able to text or share location.

– Satellite SOS: Available without a cellular plan attached to the watch
– Satellite text messaging: Requires a cellular plan from any supported carrier in US, Canada, or Mexico

I have an S9 and Ultra 2 and have cellular only on the Ultra 2. The extra battery capacity affords me the ability to leave my phone behind and worry about the battery dying if I am doing a decent amount of communication or media consumption.

I have a S7, S10 and traded in my U2 for a U3. Flipped the cellular over to the S10 until the U3 arrives.

I have the S9 with cellular but trading it in for the U3 because I want the satellite messaging and cellular combo.

I fly small planes and consider it part of my emergency go bag....

For emergencies, I can contact and communicate with Rescue Services whether in NYC or out in the wilderness.

But if I had cellular services on the AW, I could also text family and friends while out in the wilderness??

I had it on both the Series 9 and Ultra 1. Took it off the Series 9 as I rarely used it without the phone. I try to use my Ultra 1 without my phone once or twice a week. Ultra would be my recommendation

I have cellular on my ultra because I rarely carry my phone when I'm running. I don't have it on my AW6 because it's my sleep and "dress" watch.

For me the AWU3 as that's the one I would carry solo without my iPhone as it has the legs to play music, monitor exercise and do calls while I'm out in the wilds. Not carrying an iPhone is one of the benefits of the AWU when exercising for me.

Correct. And do location sharing
“Emergency SOS, Find My, and Messages via satellite are included for free for two years with the activation of Apple Watch Ultra 3. Connection and response times vary based on location, site conditions, and other factors. Find My and Messages via satellite require a carrier plan. To send and receive SMS from cellular models of Apple Watch over satellite, your paired iPhone must be powered on and connected to Wi-Fi or an active cellular network, but your iPhone doesn’t need to be nearby. SMS message rates may apply. Satellite connectivity provided by Globalstar and its affiliates. See support.apple.com/123924 for more information.”

If I’m going out in the wilderness (“off grid”) I need to leave my iPhone behind in civilization (connected to WiFi or active cellular) … that will be a strange sensation to remember to leave my iPhone behind!!
