For those of you that have a mac pro and photoshop, I would like to know how long it takes for you to launch the program in seconds. If you would also let me know what your processor speed and ram is too.

Depends on what version of Photoshop you're talking about. CS2 uses Rosetta and takes ages to load (at a guess 45 seconds). CS3 is quick, very quick, somewhere under 10 seconds. Could be as quick as 3 as WizardHunt suggests but it's certainly much faster than any Photoshop I've ever used on Windows or Mac.

Can't be more specific about the timings as I'm reading this and posting from work where I'm forced to use Windows

At home my nice shiny Mac Pro is a 2.66GHz model with 3GB of ram.

Hope that helps (and buy your Mac - you won't regret it! I moved from Windows 2 years ago and haven't looked back!)

CS3 i have to agree, about 3 seconds, Thats really quick.
CS2 (with Digimarc plugin disabled ~) takes about 10-15 seconds at a guess pretty quick i thought,
Quad 2.66ghz & 4gb RAM

On my Mac Pro 4-core 3.0 ghz with 9 gig RAM, CS3 takes about 20 seconds to load the first time. Subsequently, after it's cached, it loads in about 3 seconds.

I have a Mac Pro 2.66, CS2 Photoshop loads in at about 20-30 seconds.

Once it is cached it is around 10 seconds I'd say.

I'm definetely getting CS3, CS2 is slow as hell on the Intels.

yep, huge difference between cs2 and cs3. my quad 2.66, 2gigs of ram mac pro takes all of 5 seconds or so to load cs3

Sorry to post (no Mac Pro)

On my iMac Core 2 Duo 2.16Ghz with 2Gb ram and lots of programs open (Safari, iTunes, Vienna, Adobe Reader 8, Pages, iGetter, Firefox and 2 using Rosetta Word and Excel)

Photoshop CS3 took 8 seconds to load first time
Cached it took just over 3 seconds.
