It makes more sense to get the iPhone 6S on the payment plan (vs. buying outright) and then next year you can just trade it in for the iPhone 7, correct?

Monthly @ Verizon is $35, so a year you're paying $420 for the phone.
If you bought at full price, you'd have to sell your phone ( on ebay its around $650 *.90 retention after ebay fees gives you $585.
Potential benefit of buying outright is $165, but you do run the risk of getting scammed on ebay.
