If you reinstall both discs that come with iMac, will it look exactly like factory?

If you reformat your HDD and reinstall the OS X disc and software disc that comes with the iMac, will it look exactly the same as if you booted up the computer for the first time? Meaning the items on the dock will appear in the same order?

Is iLife on the OS X disc? What is the 2nd disc for? Also, is the only software on an iMac simply OS X and iLife?

as long as you do a reformat and reinstall it will look like it did when you booted it for the first time. (Save any files you need to DVD or an external drive as it will erase everything)

and iLife is a separate disc. it is not on the install disc.

Yes, it will look like that, though the iLife suite is installed on the second DVD.

Thanks guys. What is the logic in the placing of the apps on the Dock? Meaning did Apple program iLife so that it sets itself up on the Dock in the order of iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand?

Yes. Other installers do that too. The logic is for newcomers to easily find the applications.
Btw, iTunes is no longer part of iLife.
