They'll probably tell you that you can't purchase the iPhone that way. Not on launch day when there is a line.
I doubt there will be a line on Saturday since the iphone 3GS is coming out on Friday.
Then it might be out of stock.
There were still lines for 3G iPhones WEEKS after launch.

Were you not around for the 3G launch? I bought mine about 5 days after launch day and waited 2 1/2 hours + to get one.
No I wasn't. Sorry. This is my first iphone. Everyone else was refering to not being able to make an appt on launch day which is Friday, not Saturday. I guess they might be out of stock by Saturday though.

Last year, the stores here were out of stock by Saturday morning. Even though they kept getting new shipments, the morning lines stayed long for over a week.
The Genius' at the San Francisco (Stockton Ave) Apple Store said they are not accepting "Personal Shopping" appointments for the 3G-S iPhone on Launch Day. If customers have personal shopping appointments for the iPhone, they will be turned away. They'll begin accepting personal shopping appointments on the DAY AFTER Launch Day......
