The Iron Throne
I'm normally fairly decisive about these things, and I'm also well aware that I probably won't be needing more than 8GB of RAM any time soon. The main reason I'm undecided is the low price of 16GB right now. It's only $37 more to have 16GB over 8GB.

So, what would you do if you had a MacBook Pro with 4GB of RAM today, and were intending to upgrade the RAM:

1) Buy the 8GB of RAM for $45.

2) Buy the 16GB of RAM for $82.

Thanks in advance.

What about buying only one DIMM of 8GB, then you'll end up having 10GB in total, and in the future you can upgrade to 16GB if you want.

If you were suffering with 4, I'd go to 16. By that I mean, if your system is slow because 4GB is too little for what you are doing, going to 16 will definitely push you over that hump.
