Seriously. My iPhone 5s was getting terrible battery life after updating OTA to iOS 11.1 from iOS 10.2.
I'm talking 3h 30m to 4h of usage. The battery would go down 1% every 2-3 minutes. It would also drain by unreasonable amounts even when the phone was locked and doing nothing.

After trying almost everything to no avail I finally restored iOS 11.1 using iTunes and set up as a new iPhone. I honestly wasn't expecting much but to my surprise the battery life is back to normal for me as on 10.2 and previous versions of iOS: Over 6 hours of usage with the same apps and settings as always. That's a 2 hour difference over the OTA update.

So if you too are having terrible battery life on iOS 11, try restoring with iTunes. If you still have bad battery life then restore with iTunes AND set up as a new iPhone (skip your backup) then redownload all your apps and setup your settings like before.

Yes, I know restoring via iTunes is a PITA but it might be worth your time if nothing else works to resolve your battery issues.

I did the same thing to my mom’s 5s and the battery performance has gone back to what it used to be. And one other thing to note, when she had done the OTA update, her phone was getting unusually warm.

So all is working pretty well now after a restore.

I recommend anyone else that is having issues to do the same :)
