I have both a desktop and a notebook that were about the same price at the time of purchase. With desktops being so much more powerful these days, I'm thinking on my next purchase of a desktop and notebook, of splurging on the notebook which might make the two of them at the same level of performance. That way I would be indifferent on which machine to use. No need to plan my tasks. I now save up video editing to do on the desktop, but I'll do audio on either machine. How would you go about buying a desktop and notebook?

Or perhaps you rather buy the best performing notebook and then hook it up a big display when you get to your home office.

I'd prefer to get a desktop - for the things that I do and want to do with them.
If there's no iMac or news of when .. then I am just going with a macbook pro probably.
