kindly do slam me for repetition.

i presently have a 3GS running on custom ipsw on 4.3.3
i have been patiently waiting for untethered JB on ios 5.

i read that with iFaith i can save shsh which are not being signed by apple and i can create a custom ipsw for 5.0

now if i upgrade my phone to 5.0 using this custom ipsw i can retain my baseband (which i need for unlock)

now my question is:

1) does this install cydia on the phone in which case will it be untethered?

or

2) do i need need to use the latest redsnow in which case it will be tethered?

iFaith only saves the blobs, plus generates a ipsw that you can use to restore to a certain version of ios. After you restore you'd still need to jailbreak using redsn0w if you wish to.
