I am running out of space and I was using the space I did have to store pictures and videos off of sd cards. I put them in folders in ifile, not in the photos and videos app. Since I didn't need them all, I swiped right and hit delete and thought they were gone. But after checking how much storage I have left it didn't change, does anyone know where in ifile the "deleted" files go? I looked for a while and couldn't find anything.
Thanks

Can you clarify please? Are you saying these were sync'd into your idevice?

No, I transferred them using the camera connection kit. Now that I deleted them in ifile, I don't see them but they are still taking up space somewhere...

Hmm, I don't do my deletes in ifile, unless its a theme or something I added manually. The OS tends to dislike that. Unless someone has a better answer, I'd back up and restore and be more careful in the future.

Do you have "Use Trash" set to ON in iFile settings?
If so, you might have put the files into trash but not have emptied the trash so files are still on your phone.

Try checking the Trash folder, /var/mobile/Library/iFile/Trash/

You can also empty trash, in iFile, hit "Edit" top right, then highlight something, then press the trash icon on the bottom.
If you have stuff in trash, you will see an "Empty Trash" button along with the "Move File to Trash".

Here you can go ahead and press the Empty Trash button. You will not delete the item you have selected, you will only empty the stuff thats in your iFile's Trash.

I turned on the use trash toggle, then deleted some more and sure enough I have more space. But what I don't know is where all the files I deleted before the trash was changed. They are taking up room somewhere but I can't find them.

If you know the names of the files then you can search for them through iFile.
Start at the root directory and search for it by name.
Search is at the very top and make sure to use the "Hierarchy" option

Hi,
i had the same problem. Files that were deleted were still taking up space (before trash option is turned on) ..
Any solution to recover the lost hdd space?

thanks
