Hi guys...

I saw some people mentioned that they had iFile working on the new OS?

Mine is still crashing?

Any tips?

I had the trial working for a few hours last night but i cant get it running again for the life of me. Ive tried reinstalling it again and again but it crashes while loading every time. Ive been trying to find an explanation or solution but no luck so far. If i find anything new ill make sure to let you know.

Thanks alot!!

Yes, mine also does that, shows the icons at the bottom, then crashes....

worked fine for me until the update for it the other day... actually liked the APP was able to do all the editing with it right on the phone

According to the devs twitter @iFile4iPhone hes in the process of testing a new release to fix the compatibility issues with iOS4... Still no ETA on the release tho :/

@Moridian... If you dont wanna wait for the new iFile release you can always SSH into your phone and edit your files that way.

One more thing... Does anybody know any app compatible with iOS4 that allows me to access and play downloaded mp3 files from Safari? I used to use iFiles media player and i tried Dtunes but it crashes anytime it tries to access my iPhones directory. I cant use my Mac either because its being repaired at the moment :(

Just discovered (via Xsellize) that you can get the trial version of iFile on Cydia working by setting your date back a few years. I set the year to 2007 and iFile works fine (still takes a few seconds to load though). Just make sure you remember to set your date back to normal when your finished.

Yah i changed my date to March 18,2010 and it works fine.. Weird..

Same.

And it sucks because I really want to be able to delete the file for the shadows beneath the icons.

Hey man, just set your date back a while....

Removing the shadows improved my device rate quite niceley! Awesome tip that!

lol.. setting the date back worked for me also. now can anyone really quick explain how to delete the shadows of the icons and what does this do exactly. will it make my icons look any different. sorry if this has been asked already. im new to all this deleting certain files to make my 3G "snappier".

Just rename
/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/WallpaperIconShadow.png
to something else (That way if you change your mind, just rename it)
It removes the shadows under your app icons.

thanks. can you also delete the lang packs on ifile. all the languages on the iphone. i heard this helps also.

are they the ones under core services/springboard.app?

Deleting language packs on it just makes it so you cant set the Menus to a different language correct?

And also if you restore your phone etc.. Everything comes back?

The date trick worked. It still took a few seconds to show anything, then it said ifile was registered.

Putting the date back and it fails again :(

At least if I really need it I can do the date again.

Yea its really just a temporary fix for now. I spoke to the dev and he said hes worked out pretty much all the bugs and he should have it up in the next couple days.
