I am not native English speaker and I don't care about the difference between spelling, it irritates me when I write "realised" and MacOS give me a red line beneath it to change it to "realized". How can I MacOS ignore these spelling differences?!

I went to Language&Region to add both UK and US but it doesn't seem to work. There is also English US, English UK, English Canada, English Australia, and simply just English. How many English is there and which should I choose?

You can turn off the spell check for chosen languages if you go to System Settings - Keyboard. Choose the Text Tab, then open the Spelling menu and at the very bottom choose "Configure". Now you can uncheck the spelling for the languages you don't want to have.

You can have US English or UK English corrections. You cannot have both, although I suppose you could have neither.

Edit: You can have both set. See below.

Woooooo!!
As a non-native speaker I can't tell the difference between the two spellings(&I dont care) and so I use both and it was driving me crazy as I spell realized and it gives me a red line then I have to look it in the dictionary and it appears the American spelling. So unchecking either does not work for me, I wanted it to accept both. Guess what?

If I choose both US and British English in the spelling menu, it accepts both spelling methods this solved my problem!
Thanks man! I didn't think there was a solution. I have been using Macs for near 20 years and didn't know about this Spelling menu(as a Mac user you don't need to visit the System Settings a lot, it just works!)

I think you're saying you now get no corrections, for either US or UK English. That's different from what I said in the first part of my earlier post; it's the same as what I said in the second part.

This is what I wanted, I wanted both and its working now by using the 2 dictionaries in the spell check.
I get no red line for: favour or favor
but I do for: "definately" because its wrong, the correct spelling is "definitely" (no red line)
