What are the chances of the next generation of video editing software on iLife being able to read .MOD files, without having to go through all this file converting nonsense?
 
What is the .MOD format? Wikipedia isn't clear, is it this:

MOD is also the file extension for the video file format used on many digital camcorders, such as the JVC Everio, and the Panasonic D-Snap SD-card camcorders. Typically, such files are actually MPEG-2 video files with a different extension.

But they might well add support for MPEG2 to it though...
 
Yeah, that's it. I have a hard drive camcorder that writes in .MOD format and iMovie doesn't suppoert it apparently. Guess I'll find out next week with the announcement on the 7th of August?
