Hello everyone - long time reader, first time poster. I know this topic has been beaten to death - but I've read all the post and have not found an answer for my question.

If you have iLife 08 installed and just installed a new copy of iLife 09 - does the following happen?

1. iLife 08 gets removed.
2. All Data from iPhoto 08, iMovie 08, iDVD etc, gets transferred to the new application.
3. No Importing is required to move any of the data over the new version of the software. It just works as if you didn't even have iLife 08 in the first place.

Thanks alot for your help!

For #3, iPhoto analyses your Library when it first opens. It doesn't import anything but make take a couple minutes. Also, the Faces option will be unavailable until it's processes images.

I believe...
1. Yes
2. Yes
3. Yes

+1

but consider this:
If the 08 to 09 update is similar to previous, your new libraries will be unreadable in previous versions. This has caused trouble in my home, as i have 08, and my wife has 07.
we are solving this by upgrading both machines to 09

but if you don't intend to share libraries with earlier versions, you're good to go
