I'm really surprised no rumors have come about iLife '09 yet. I am assuming it will launch before Back To School ends. I'm hoping for a major iWeb overhaul.

I'm more inclined to the iLife '10 than iLife '09.

Maybe Apple will do a "Snow" thing again....

Snow iLife '10. No new apps, just faster and gr8ter ;)

No chance. iLife '08 was iLife '07 delayed so till last summer so they called it '08 and got a year and a half out of it. iLife '09 will be out in January at MacWorld. Nothing to do with Back to School. iWeb 2.0 was fairly substantial over 1.x and while it could probably have more revision, there's no telling how major or minor the updates to it will be.

Now if they truly want to push and market MobileMe for Mac and Windows users, then iWeb could see a major upgrade and we could see iLife '09 for Mac and Windows in January as Apple tries to push more iApps to Windows users...............

If it's released after the 1st of the year it would likely be 10 then.;)

iLife '04 came out in January at MWSF 2004
iLife '05 came out in January at MWSF 2005
iLife '06 came out in January at MWSF 2006
iLife '08 came out summer 2007 - too late to call it '07 and then it would sound outdated for all of 2008.

If there is an iLife next January at MWSF 2009, it will be called iLife '09.

from ^^ "The iLife suite has gone through five iterations so far. It is traditionally updated at the Macworld San Francisco event in January, although this trend was broken in 2007."

I would love to see an iLife update at MWSF in 2009. More likely I think is we'll be waiting until at least the middle of 2009 for an iLife '10 suite. :(

The other question is what would iLife 09/10 include?

iTunes is free (so what)
iPhoto seems to be pretty stable, unless they add more Aperture features
iMovie got worse in '08 (arguably)
iDVD was pronounced irrelevant
GarageBand no idea what it needs since I don't use it

I'm not sure how pressing an update is, unless there's some new functionality.

Maybe call it iMe 09 and combine it with mobile me?

Agreed iMovie 08 was a joke and really a step backward from iMovie 06, which is why I not only downloaded the iMovie 06 HD version Apple made readily available, but also purchased a copy of Final Cut Express HD though I haven't had the time to really use it yet.

The awful part is that if you want to publish an iMovie file to a web gallery with .Mac/Mobile Me, you can't do it in iMovie 06, so you have to open the file in iMovie 08 when you are done in order to publish it to the gallery. And it has to convert it. Just a couple extra steps.

Well, Whenever the next iLife comes out, I bet the two apps that will be most improved are iWeb and iMovie. And maybe iDVD with BluRay support.

I am anxiously awaiting the next version of iLife. I'm hoping for at least these three things:

1. Blogging from the Mobile Me web app.
2. Allow comments on photos in web galleries.
3. Improvements to iMovie

I am one of the few people who love iMovie '08. I really liked the clean easy to use interface. Since this is the second version I am hoping they add some more of the features taken from HD back.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next version of iPhoto has much stronger ties with Flickr! given how closely tied the iPhone and AppleTV are to Flickr!.

I'm sorry, can you elaborate on how "closely tied" the iPhone is to Flickr? Flickr is a horrible experience on the iPhone at the moment.
