ilife sound effects not showing in imovie 08

whenever i'm in imovie 08 and i click on the ilife sound effects folder, then click on animals i don't have any sound clips to choose from. there are sound clips in there but they are all .caf files. does imovie not read .caf or is there a quick easy way to convert them to.mp3 files ?

They work for me in iMovie 08, but not in iMovie 06 for some reason...really frustrating.
