When you buy a Mac and you go to the configuration page, do you think Apple should give you the option of removing iLife and allowing other software to be installed in its place without affecting the standard price?

If I had the option I think I would choose to have iWork installed in place of iLife. I can seem by self dabbling around with iWeb but not many of the other apps, particularly Garageband.

But I suppose iLife is worked into the standard price of the Mac.

I don't think so. If you don't want to use any of the iLife programs, you can always delete them off your computer and re-install them if you want to later on from your restore discs.

Yes, it would be nice to have a choice between the two, or even to get a price reduction for leaving iLife out.

That would be too much work...Apple would have to make two versions of restore DVDs instead of one...or do some kind of scheme that would prevent iLife from installing (similar to how Microsoft is doing the Vista install disc--one disc, many versions to install).. And such an route would likely be cracked in no time.

Besides, I don't see you paying a premium that much for iLife....If it were several hundred dollars, the option would be nice, but 99.99 isn't bad..
