I’ve experienced some nasty bugs in iTunes from quite a long time. I’m done with that, so even after a failed attempt at rebuilding the library, I’ll delete everything iTunes-related from my Mac, start a new library from scratch and then re-add all my media (which I will backup before, obviously, I guess simply copying all the folders inside iTunes Media).

Songs and videos aside (and their corresponding tags), this process will certainly imply losing some stuff, so I’m making a list of things that I’d need to somehow backup and then re-import:

- Playlists
- Smart playlists
- Playlists folders
- Ratings
- Play counts
- Volume adjusts for certain tracks
- Covers
- Lyrics?
- iTunes LP
- Album booklets (PDF files)
- iOS backups

I hope that you, as iTunes advanced users, will he lp me to increase that list, anticipating which other things would be lost when starting an iTunes library from scratch.

Having said that, the most import thing for me is knowing HOW TO SAVE that information, which scripts, processes, etc., to use, no matter if I’d need to do different things for each item.

I “hear” you!
