Illuminated keyboard problems

Hi all

I picked up an illuminated keyboard from ebay for use with my in car mac setup. It works fine except for the illumination part. it flickers on when i plug it in but then dies. it works fine with a pc without any drivers.
below is a link to it on ebay any ideas how to get it to light up on my mac?
I am running 10.6.7 on a unibody 13inch mbp
in windows i just hit scroll lock and it illuminates
