I just got a MBP last week. Now I really like the illuminated keyboard, but I often shut it off to conserve battery life. However, ever since I upgraded to Lion, the illumination won't shut off, even if I turn it off in System Preferences. Anyone else have this problem?

It doesn’t turn off if you use the f5 button and turn the brightness all the way down?

While you are searching for solution(s) you can use the top row keys to turn the keyboard on and off...

Can't remember... I don't think I had that problem since I upgraded to GM/Lion.

Not sure though...

Sorry but my MBP is in the office..

OK, I tried fn & F5 and that worked. It doesn't work when I try to shut it off in System Preferences. Thanks!

I don’t think the option your talking about in preferences is to actually turn the keyboard backlight off. I think it’s just to keep it from coming on automatically when there isn’t enough ambient light.
