Illustrator action using "save as" prob

One of the things I'm doing so often in Illustrator that I created an action is;

Outlining fonts
Save as PDF (smallest file size)
close

I do this all the time when sending art to clients.

The trouble started when I moved to an Intel machine - I'm still using CS2. For some reason it runs the whole action except for the "smallest file size" part. Is this annoying because I have to go into Acrobat and reduce it later to get down to an emailable size.

It's seems to remember the setting until I restart Illy.

Anyone have any ideas?
