illustrator cs3, merge illustrator files preserving layers?

hello,


i have two illustrator cs 3 documents. i want them in the same file, but the problem is that when i copy and past, i loose all the layer information of the copied files in the document i paste into.

complex files... don't want to have to copy and past into new layers manually... why is this hard? there is no 'import' in illustrator cs3?

Try turning on the Paste Remembers Layers option. Select it from the Layers panel menu (right near the bottom of the menu).
