Illustrator CS3 Upgrade (well, crossgrade) Question

Ummm... Adobe.com: Store: Illustrator: Upgrades: Competitive Upgrade Info:
"To purchase the CorelDRAW competitive upgrade to Illustrator CS3, you must own a registered copy of CorelDRAW. Only one competitive upgrade is allowed per customer.
Canadian residents please note: The CorelDRAW competitive upgrade to Illustrator CS3 is available only to residents of the United States."
US$199
It would be typical of these competitive upgrades that you have to provide the original serial number of the Corel Draw to Adobe to qualify.

FRom the Adobe store (I believe this is still the only way you can get the competitive upgrade):
So, the important points are one per customer, and that it's registered. They don't care about the version.
It might be a good idea to use their phone ordering system if your CorelDRAW is really, really old and you want to be sure there aren't any misunderstandings.
