Illustrator files in iMovie???

If i have a vector logo in illustrator that I want to incorporate into my iMovie project, can I do so, and still have it with a transparent background??? If not what file type do I need to save to make it work.

I just tested a couple of files- it doesn't appear to even recognize .eps, and an .ai file came in with a white backround. So I tried the next obvious, a transparent .png, and it appears to come in transparent. Though I'm not sure I understand the goal of a transparent visual in iMovie if it's all on one track anyway.
