Illustrator pathfinder under intel mac 10.4.8 fix

A temporary solution but one nonetheless:

open illustrator

close appearence pallete from window menu

close illustrator

open illustrator

the pathfinder tool should work now without crashing

if you close illustrator you'll need to repeat steps

still doesnt cover other random crashes including the knife crash.
