Is there a way to get an app with IM that will notify me even if I'm not in the application?

Beejive IM does the closest to that.

It pushes your IM's to your e-mail, and if you have Push for your e-mail turned on, it'll fetch it almost immediately.

AIM 2.0 for the iPhone is supposed to send you a text message or email when you get an IM, but it hasn't come out and it was supposed to after Macworld in January.

It hasn't done anything to my e-mails for the last ~3 months.
I have a Spam-Free e-mail also. Except for the regular coupon codes that I signed up for (Which I want)

I use Beejive and have it text me when I receive messages. To do this you go to settings and add your phone number@txt.att.net(assuming you are on AT&T) as the email and set it to stay logged in for whatever period of time you desire. It will then text you whenever you receive messages or when you are signed out.

He's talking about something totally different.

Beejive does NOT send you anything other than IM alerts. You can easily take your email off in the settings.

http://beejive.com is the official site.

I have been using Beejive since it came out and have had NO spam messages from them.
