I'm buying a Alu MacBook/Pro. What do I need?

Are there any programs that are especially helpful? I know NeoOffce/OpenOffice is a substitute for Word/Pages. Anything else that might help a Mac newbie like me?

Flip4Mac is very good, lets you watch wmv videos in quicktime. I'd also suggest getting the iStatpro widget to manage your fans, hard drives and their temperatures. Enjoy your mac!

Do you connect to external displays? If so, you'll need either the mini DisplayPort to VGA, or mDP to DVI adapter. Apple, in their infinite wisdom, decided to make a mini version of the standard DisplayPort connector and become the only seller of adapters to go with it.

Oh. And Firefox.

The only thing I can sugget is that if you're going to upgrade the memory, don't do it through Apple at the time of purchase.

You can get it $30 cheaper through Newegg, and keep the old 1GB sticks.

Same with the hard drive.

Oh and Transmission is a really good torrent app.
