...because it just allowed me to convert a bunch of my old writing projects from the PPC version of movie Magic Screenwriter (proprietary file format) to RTF.

The battery is kaput and the screen is going kind of dark, but hey!

Thanks. Now i need to see about getting a new battery....
[doublepost=1556472922][/doublepost]By the way, what do I do about online security in Wi-Fi settings, if I'm stuck with using no-longer-supported browsers? On the one hand, I can't imagine anyone still writing/using malware for PPCs in this day and age -- and I don't need to keep any sensitive data on the iBook anyway. But then there's the issue of securing the connection itself....

That's it! That is what made me taking an iBook G4 as a beamer-companion for meetings, which has to serve for files and presentations from different sources ...

Biggest problem I'm having right now is getting my old versions of TenFourFox and Camino to connect to various sites. Apart from certificate issues, the biggest obstacle seems to be some kind of server encryption compatibility error. Any thoughts?

Missing TLS 1.2 and 1.3 I guess

EDIT: I know of no way to add that to the OS itself, if a browser doesn't support it

A minor point, but make sure your time and date are set correctly as well. That can wreck havoc on certificates and other functionality...

Yeah, this is a problem as long as the battery is messed up, unless I keep it plugged in 24/7.
