Yay,
I came home from work this morning expecting Apple to have released the newest beast.

Us curent 2008 mac pro owners, are still holding Apple's most powerful mac.:D
We get a few more months before we become outdated tech.

Sorry Tallest Skill as I know your one of the most anxious waiters for this next mac.
You have been talking about getting it for so long now.

whilst apple have a duty to keep their products updated, they also have a duty not to piss of customers by making a $3000+ machine 'old' after just 12 months. Dell can do that but Apple are a bit different.

There is nothing wrong with the current crop of mac pros. (save a slightly disappointing graphics card line up and absence of BR). I have never thought my 2008 mac pro is a bit underpowered (and i've only got the 4 core!)

So i'm also glad the MP hasn't been outdated today.

yawn... another silent update for Mac Pro once again.

Pretty soon too I would imagine. I've already had definite release dates for i7 Xeon (if they call it that) machines from other manufacturers (which I will be buying) and they're not far away, so new Pros (which I won't be) may be rolled out before they are or at a similar time.

It hasn't stopped them making a $2800 laptop 'old' after only 3 months. :p

Logic being "Quick get a Macbook Pro before we can't change anything in them ever again..............."?

I was thinking more along the lines of 'why buy a machine that is so obviously going to be superceded in the very near future.'

Besides, what drives somebody to tinker with a $2800 notebook? If you're spending that much on it in the first place, you may as well get ALL the options instead of skimping out. It's false economy.

Eh... I'm almost to the point of apathy.

ALMOST. :D I mean... seriously... I'm getting the fastest processor available, the mid-range GPU, and putting in my BD-RE/HD DVD-ROM drive and hooking up my dual 24"s, so apathy is a little hard.

Oh, and adding a single terabyte drive. I'll wait for someone other than Seagate to put out a 1.5 or 2TB drive before I buy over 1TB again... Frigging worthless firmware updates...

This would be the part where you say what those dates are. :]

I never expected the new Mac Pros, so this time around I'm not disappointed =) I usually get hyped up with the Apple events and end up being really disappointed with the outcome, but I've learned from those mistakes.

Eagerly awaiting the new Mac Pros', wake me up when they get here.

This was worse than WWDC08, at least there was the iPhone 3G at the end of that. Filling an hour with a sub par Office contender and a bigger version of a notebook that's been out for two months does not make an entertaining or surprising event.

One has to question the logic of anybody who bought the older 17" MBP after the new 15" models and 13" MBs were unveiled.

becaus ethe firewire chipset doen's work with pro audio cards. I'm hoping the new 17" doens't contain the agere also

its nice to have the newest tech, especially when you have laid out so much money, but in reality, I got a great deal on my mac pro (2x2.8/8GB/2TB/8800/23" ACD/ipod touch 32GB/ipod nano 8GB/2 ipod Shuffle 1GB's/Wacom tablet...all for £2800 new from apple) so if something new was released, i doubt that i could have done any better:)

Waited a long while for mine so i know (like many of us) what its like to wait, and for those who are, I hope it comes sooner rather than later.

No offense, but if you think Apple give a **** about pissing you off you're a fool, they already have your money, and you'll upgrade when you want to upgrade, so they have your future money.

I seriously doubt anyone would say "I'M NEVER BUYING A MAC AGAIN OMG" if they released a new Mac Pro in less than a year product cycles.
