I just noticed something odd about my iPad 2. The mute/orientation lock switch is pretty tough to move up and down, requiring a good amount of force to use. I figure it should be smooth as butter such as the switch first iPad. Do I have a bad switch or did Apple just make the switch annoying?

Mine is pretty tough, I think it's better that way.

So it doesnt accidentally switch itself.

I am a total iPad noob, so this might be a dumb question relating to this. Mine is a little tough to switch as well (I assume it is by design), but when I do switch it, I get an onscreen mute display, but it does not actually go mute.

Am I missing something?

Only certain sounds and apps are muted by the switch, depending on your settings I think. Yu can also go into settings to make the switch an orientation lock, which I find more useful.
