I'm having problems trying to launch iMovie any ideas?

Hi ya, i have recently bought a new 24 inch imac (pre installed ilife), i photo, garage band work fine but everytime i try to open iMovie it says something has gone wrong and the program has terminated unexpectedly. i have tried re-installing but it doesn't work....... still get the same error. can some one make any head or tails of the following :

Is it a problem with the software or machine?

You could try to Repair Permissions with Disk Utility (Applications > Disk Utility).

Tried that unfortunately i'm still getting the same error

What about repairing the Disk with the Installation DVD?
