Now its entirely likely that I am being a very great fool... but is there a way of having your apple tv 'wake up' as part of an automation (I have the new 4k one), ie when I activate 'Im home' via siri?

Would be nice to come home, say 'Im home' and have the TV turn on.. along with the lights etc

cheers!

I don't think there's any way to do that with AppleTV, but you could do that via other methods. Could get a HomeKit enabled smart plug you plug the tv into and have that turn on as an automation in Home app. I personally use a Logitech Harmony Hub along with a Raspberry Pi running Homebridge so I can control my Harmony with HomeKit/Siri/Home app. That way I can say "watch tv" and the automation in Home app calls the Harmony plugin in Homebridge which in turn kicks on my Harmony activity that fires up the tv, the stereo receiver and sets them to the correct AV inputs to watch the AppleTV.

Thanks for the reply bripab007 appreciate it. I feel however your methods exceed my skill set! I'm rather surprised it wasn't part of the apple standard set of automations.. maybe it will make it as part of an update. Either way glad im not the only one who wanted to do this!

I think your best bet is to just get a HomeKit enabled smart plug for your TV or possibly receiver (like this: https://www.amazon.com/iDevices-Swi...2&sr=8-2-spons&keywords=idevices+switch&psc=1) and set that up in the Home app with an automation named "watch tv" or "I'm home" or even using a geofencing automation like you can now implement in iOS 11. If you're lucky, maybe your TV will fire up and the AppleTV will wake as well. This might require your TV and/or receiver to support CEC, but it may just work regardless. Heck, just set your AppleTV to never go to sleep for that matter--then it'll definitely work. It probably will only cost you a few cents extra per year to never have the AppleTV shut off.
