Alright, so I want to get serious about using my ipad. Right now, I mainly use it for games. I want to get serious with it.

1) Any sort of apps to help out with research papers? Online databases or peer reviewed articles would be great.

2) Apps that allow me to alter and edit files away from my computer?

3) Apps that remind me when assignments are due?

4) Apps that can help me learn math.

5) Apps for note taking, and possibly can record lectures?

6) Just general "This will help your college life" apps.

Here is what I use:

Evernote
Texas Instruments TI-Nspire CAS
Graph Paper
Noteshelf
Firetask
iTunes U

As for research papers, your college might have a repo with all this stuff. Mine does anyway.

So I have Evernote on both my Mac and Ipad, but I've never really played around with. What exactly does it do? Is it like Dropbox?

You can set reminders, download math apps and similar ones. You will find plenty of apps for every need of yours. Do read the user reviews before installing. It is really helpful.
