I am new to mac and have used trillian for pc since it was originally released. Is there a lightweight im app for the mac like trillian that connects to aol, yahoo, msn and icq?

No!!!!!!

Don't use adium seriously i've used it before and for some reason it spams my friends with weird messages that you don't even realise are being sent!
Just no to adium!

aMsn works fine for me try that you might like it.

aMSN is not comparable to Adium...

But to be fair... I use iChat LOL!!

J

have adium installed and running now on with my msn, icq, aol and yahoo.. so far so good. How do you create groups though.. to organize contacts etc.

Yes and no, I think what they are trying to say that their MSN account was hacked by clicking on a link in a conservation window. This is a problem with all msn clients not just Adium.

True , happens on aMSN (happened to me ¬¬) , Mercury , Microsoft Messenger etc... so is not an Adium only problem

there a way to turn off in the chat boxes the persons avatar and label of their name for each message they type? like have individual boxes for each conversation and not the avatars and labels for each message they send. The time stamp is nice.. but maybe to the left of each message just the time stamp?

Ohh and one more thing.. when a new message comes and I do not have a conversation box open there a way for it to notify me just by flashing in the contact list and not open a window on its own.. I will look through the preferences myself more.. but these are the main things I would like to change.

thanks again

*figured out turning off avatar in chat boxes...
*figured out turning off the label bar thingy in conversations...

still not seeing a way to stop it from opening the dialog window on its own when a new message comes in.. I just want it to flash or blink or something in the contact list.

Actually no i didn't, soon as i installed it went to chate to my friend they said they got some weird message. Hadn't even click on any links, so it wasn't it being hacked.
Funnily enough it doesn't happen with amsn but it does with adium!!
