So, I get the 16/40 with 512GB storage. I'm hooking it up to either the Samsung G80SD or AW3225QF. I'm using HDMI. I can't seem to figure the option for 240Hz. Coming from a PC that was at 3840 x 2160 @240Hz over HDMI, with the 150% scaling.

What are my options here? I'm pretty confused at this point. I know it sounds dumb, but well, I am dumb it seems.

Nah.

It's just that MacOS choice for setting the user interface is worded poorly.

If your display is 4K then the Mac will always output 4K. When you hook up your displays, does the Mac sense them correctly?

You can set the Mac user interface ("looks like") zoom to many values that are available on the System Settings page. But, like with many things, you have to click a box or hold down the Option key to get to them.

Ok, so if I set it at the 1920x1080, that's equivalent to 4k with 200% scaling in Windows? Also, not sure why I can't do the 240Hz.

Not sure it is exactly like Windows as I've not used Windows much in a long time.

Still, yes, think of "zoom" for "looks like".

4K monitors have 2160 rows. So if you set the Mac at 1920x1080 then you have done a 2160/1080 zoom, or 2x, aka 200%. Note: only the Mac UI is zoomed.

Also, check out the app Better Display. It gives you more choices and fixes some of the text scaling issues that seem to bother some people.

So odd. I plugged it in the AW3225QF, and it finds the 240Hz properly. Didn't have to change or select anything. I looked at Better Display and I'll have to take some time and write notes and learn more about what is good to change, etc. I appreciate the replies and the help trying to figure this out.

edit:
shut the studio down, plugged it back in the Samsung G80SD, back to 120Hz. Odd.

smh. So, you have to turn Game Mode on, then I had to long press the power button on the Studio for it to shut down. Turned monitor off. Turned monitor on, turned Studio on, and 240Hz is there now.
