I have an iphone 3gs with 3.1.3. I used to have it jailbroken back when it was 3.1.2. Is there anyway to revert back to 3.1.2? Please help.

download the old firmware 3.1.2 and restore your phone in itunes

You'll get a error and get stuck in restore mode but blackra1n will take it out and you'll be back downgraded to 3.1.2

That's not entirely true.

If you have your SHSH file on file with Cydia from when you were jailbroken then you can downgrade by pointing the iTunes activation server to Sauriks server to use that file to go back to 3.1.2

Have a search, there's plenty of documentation about how to do this.

This won't work for 3GS.

If you didn't save your 3.1.2 hashes, you cannot downgrade or jailbreak.

Will the first method (just restoring to 3.1.2 then using blackrain) work for a 3G that was previously upgraded to 4.0?

I have no idea the procedure to downgrade from 4.0 beta.
You will have to read some other threads.

Unlike many, I have patience and wisdom. When 4.0 is released to the masses and the new JB tools are released for 4.0, then I shall move up to 4.0.

Until then, I currently have every 4.0 feature via Cydia apps/extensions and 3.1.2 is not buggy in any way. Plus, all my App Store apps work at 100%.

Well said.

So what extension freezes apps in the background (but does not keep them running), allowing you to return to them quickly and easily? Just wondering because I'd love to have this for myself if it exists

I thought kirikae kept apps running in the background. Weren't there complaints of it slowing the phone down when it was first released, or am I thinking of backgrounder?

Backgrounder keeps them running. Kirikae is just a lightening fast switcher especially if you disable animation.

I did think of one, however. Doesn't 4.0 have a universal "in Box" ? That is new.

And, I will still wait.
