I'm a new OS X user, and have been really liking the experience so far. I have a 2014 rMBP 15 inch which I upgraded to 10.10 last night, and have been noticing some really weird things over the past few hours.

1) I save files on the desktop, but can't see them unless I enter finder.

2) The Activity monitor shows some crazy spikes in energy usage without me doing much at all. Just scrolling in a single browser window, or even just the activity monitor being open makes the computer hot and kills its battery life. It's not burning hot, but CPU temps are at 45C.

3) This is the weirdest one for me. Searching on Spotlight (or Alfred) for a random folder shows me no content within that folder in finder. Repeating the same search again shows me the contents of that folder in a weird font, where none of the items are clickable. Trying to navigate out of that in the same finder window (for example to "Documents") changes nothing and the same weird font and contents from the old folder persist.
