Hello all. I'm looking for an external USB 3.0 drive for my new iMac. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the 2 below. From what I've read the Seagate is slightly faster. I'm looking for opinions on each. Looking for speed as ill be transferring pictures and encoded home movies plus some large MKV files from backups. I was hoping for something with a 7200rpm drive. I linked to best buy cause I have a $75 gift card so I'd love to,apply it to the purchase I was originally looking at a 1 or 2tb drive but the card lets me look at the 3tb now. I'm open to suggestions obv on other drives if they're faster and have only 1-2tb. Thanks

If speed is the main requirement, then I suggest thunderbolt drives. USB 3 is the next faster transport protocol. But make sure inside the drive inclosure that the drive is at least 72000rpm (not 54000), and the controller is SATA 6GB (not SATA 3GB).
