I downloaded my photos from the internet, after having uploaded them to Picasa. That was clever, right?

But I downloaded extra ones. When I see them in Finder, highlight and press the "delete" button, they do not disappear.

Nor can I drag and drop the actual file into the trash can.

Help a recovering PC user!

If the files are open, they may be locked; just to make sure, highlight the file, right click and select 'Get Info'. In the top half of the window there is a subsection titled 'General' and a checkbox that says 'Locked' make sure that's not check. If it is uncheck the box, close the window and try to delete it. Remember just pressing delete doesn't work; you need to do Command+Delete as has Compile 'em all has posted; then you can use Command+Shift+Delete to empty to the trash bin. The 'Delete' key referred here is what is normally a Backspace on all other keyboards.
