imac 15 video tv out

i have an imac 15 inch 1ghz from last september and i was interested in using a tv as a second display (i've used the hack to enable spanning). my old crt finally died but i realized how much i loved two screens! on apple.com, it says that the miniVGA to video out only works for the 17 inch imac 1ghz. ??!!!? did they have different video cards? plus, mine is 1ghz. . . not the older 800 mhz.
