iMac 18,2 2017 4K - BOINC sees no GPU

An odd one, to me anyhow.
Running BOINC on this, either in macOS or MX Linux, the BOINC program does not pick up on the Radeon GPU.
Anyone any clue as to what might cause that? I've done a re-install, reboot, etc etc, to no avail.
Neither OS can even see the integrated GPU, so it's not that being ignored by BOINC.
Frankly,no idea how to chase this down...

Yup. Running the same project on a Windows machine with a GTX980. Another interesting finding was that the iMac completed workinits (CPU only) almost twice as fast in Linux as in macOS.
