Looking at getting an Imac for running Logic (Express, maybe Pro in the near future though) and some light video editing.

With the off-the-shelf specs, would there be any need to spend the extra money on the 2.93 version or would the 2.66 be more than enough machine to work with? Would happily spend the money on software/audio interface etc instead of higher specs that we don't actually need.

Thoughts?

i was jsut about to ask this question as well.

only i will use the computer for internet, chat, music, watching videos.

If Logic Express needs/recommends a dedicated graphics card, get the 2.93GHz version with the ATI 4850, if not, the 2.66GHz iMac is fine.

It's a great monitor. The picture quality is clear, crisp, and bright. I got it cheap on Amazon.com.

...thanks for the info, I'm looking at that model and the HP 2408 at our base PX.

The 2009 is $149 and the 2408 is $249 (last one NIB) at the store and I'm trying to decide on the size = I think the 2009 is a little on the small side and the 2408 is a little on the large size - I'm just trying to decide on the price vs. size issue...

If your going to do some heavy music editing and mixing, you'll want as much ram as you can for high track counts, DSP effects, and what ever other software synths etc you want to put in. Other than that.. the difference between the 2.93 and 2.66 in processor speed would not be that noticeable. If you can get the 2.66 and grab some aftermarket ram.. you'll be golden.

The screen size is big enough for me.

This would be my recommendation as well.
