Since I'm going to University in 3 months I have a dilemma:confused:

I do a bit of gaming, watch movies and some recording.
I'll be moving to the campus 200km away so lots of train travels in the weekend :D

I have 2 choises

1)
-) To buy a iMac
(iMac 24" 2.66GHz/4GB/640GB/GF 9400M/SD or iMac 24" 2,8GHz/2GB/320/SuperDrive)
for home(dorm) usage.

& a used macbook (previous gen.) for writing in classes etc.

2)
-) To buy a uMBP
(MacBook Pro 15" 2.53GHz/4GB/320GB/GeForce 9600M GT/SuperDrive)

Things to also consider: The MBP would be about 500$ cheaper.

I like option 1, but replace the white macbook with a macbook air. You'll love it if you're just going to be taking notes in class, and you'll notice the extra 2 lbs.

Get the both refurbished and at the Apple Store. You'll get a student discount and get a free ipod.

NOTE: buy the macbook air anywhere besides Apple (for under 1000) if you choose to get it instead of the white macbook. The white MB is still a great laptop, tons of kids at college still have them.

A used MBA I believe is more expensive than a used macbook.

I personally would go with a refurbished MBP. The GPU is a lot better.

Forgot to mention , that we have no refurb store in Estonia :D

Haha, are macs popular in Estonia?

It really depends what you want. The idea of having a laptop and desktop is very appealing to many, including me. The MBP is a great machine, and is a portable desktop. It's all based on your personal preference, don't let members here make the decision for you.

People in Estonia are mostly afraid of macs :D And the entry level macbook(unibody) costs about 1700 us dollars.
So they are not to popular.

I would personally go for option 1. I have a macbook pro which I love, but then I got an imac as well and I only really use the mbp when im out and about. I much prefer working with a keyboard and mouse and a bigger screen at a desk when i'm at home rather than using a laptop all the time. Option 1 gives you the best of both worlds!
