Is this a good deal? I can't remember now if it 1000 or 1099. It's for a 20" 512mb, I'm not sure on the hd and its the coreduo(vers 1) processor. I don't have a lot of details, but is that a deal worth checking out. It's up at our university bookstore. Its a close out deal i guess.

My next question is...How big of a speed increase would I get if going to the core2duo? Example - convert a song off cd in iTunes or more importantly burn a 2 hour movie and compress in iDVD?

You would be much better off adding new RAM...
 
yeah, I plan on adding ram anyways. But as far as the deal goes and the others questions?
 
I think it's a good deal. 20% wild guess ballpark speed increase upgrading to C2D. Of course it depends on the task and what the clock speeds are. I'm sure iDVD would move significantly quicker. But more RAM would be a better upgrade than a C2D.
