iMac 2007/2008 This copy of the Install OS X El Capitan application can't be verified. It may have been corrupted or tampered with during downloading.
i got this error when reinstall OS X El Capitan from bootable usb created from my MacBook. is this due to date issue that apple no longer support the old iMac? but I didn't connect to wifi or network. I already change my mac time to 2013 anyway.

Thanks, I tried, but seems the package path inside is not right, see attached, how to see what's the name of the .mpkg ?
The full command is cut off in your photo, so I can't tell for sure, but it doesn't look to me like you typed it correctly. There should be a space after "-target", is there?

Here is the command ,

installer -pkg /Volumes/0S\ X\ Install\ El\ Capitan/Packages/0SInstal l.mpkg -target /Volumes/MacHD

there is a space after -target , it's complaining can't find

volumes/OS X install el capitan/packages/osinstall.mpkg

How can I go into the usb and see what's inside there

You can go into the USB via the standard cd [directory] and ls UNIX commands. I still think you typed something wrong somewhere, however. It would be very strange if every El Capitan USB installer had the same folder structure except for yours.

You are right, I missed the dvd part, find it out after cd into the directory

Date is your problem, set it back. Like in the 2nd post: date 0101010116

El Capitan came out 2015, and the Installer is from 2016.

Yep, 100% can confirm that this is most likely what's causing the issue (man, I am currently experiencing some nasty flashbacks to when I set up the MacBook 5,2 that was my daily driver for a while). IIRC the security certificate within the installer has long expired, which triggers the error message.

And while this isn't directly relevant to the OP, if you're trying to reinstall El Capitan via Internet Recovery, the date fix won't work because Internet Recovery for OS X 10.7-10.13 is online but completely broken.

^ But isn't it easier to just install via the Terminal instead of mucking with the date?
