I am looking at my friend's iMac 2007, it is a strange problem.

When my friend was browsing the internet, iMac just went off and now it will only start into blue screen. And optical drive just won't take in disc, I can push the disc in but it acts as if the drive is dead.

No option keys or reset keys made any difference at all. Neither Single mode as well.

So I opened it up for the harddrive to be backed up. Did a disk repair via my other Mac. However, it did booted into login screen (safemode?) but when entered the password, it goes into blue screen then came back to login again.

I am not sure what to make of it. I have tried using my spare HDD, it didn't detect the drive and also spare laptop drive, the tray will not open upon starting. Could this be a logic board failure? Even with iMac starting up into login screen?
