iMac 2008 HDD upgrade - Will this be ok?

Hi,
Going to upgrade the HDD in my early 2008 iMac, and we have one of these at work spare that I can use:

Is it suitable? Wasn't sure if my old girl would recognise something this big??

The size is fine, but your machine won't get any benefit by using a SATA III drive, it's too old. Your machine only recognizes up to SATA II, it will work but will be a waste of some money.

The drive is free as it's an excess one from work, so not worried about the cost.

Just 500GB. Currently have a 2TB iTunes library on an external USB drive, so it will be nice to finally move it all back onto the main internal HDD!

Surely it'll be a great deal with a 4TB HDD.
