Hello all!

Have a dead iMac 2011 and need to confirm it's a PSU only issue. PSU is dead, but before I decide to buy a new one I need to confirm the other components are fine. Has anybody used ATX PSU to at leas temporarily power on the 2009-2011 iMac?

I have no problems with digging inside iMac (has already done several GPU upgrades) - just looking for some confirmation that the 12V and 5V supply lines are standard, not requiring any special current waveform or such?

Thanks in advance,
Tom

Voltages are standard. You should be able to power up and hear some sound, either error or boot chime. Apple PSU has SMC chips on it to monitor current, voltage, temp. ATX doesn't , so I doubt you can fully operate on ATX. But for a simple good/bad check, it should do.
